As part of our work around Violence Against Women and Girls, we have set up a scheme…
‘Walk and Talk’ encourages women to get in contact with officers about their experiences and insights, or locations which cause them to feel unsafe.
The aim of this is to ensure police activity remains relevant and targeted to tackle community concerns by strengthening understanding about how environments within the town are experienced by women.
How does it work?
The scheme is designed to see what we can do to imrpove womens safety in our local public spaces and places. It gives women (o18 or with an adult) an opportunity to reach out to a female police officer who will organise a walk with them in their neighbourhood. The walk gives the opportunity to point out areas they may feel unsafe and talk about these.

The local neighbourhood policing team will work with partners to discuss and action issues raised.
